CARDIGANS
Everyone covets at least one - ok - 3 great cardis to throw on during the cooler seasons. It’s that item you need in a variety of weights, lengths and colours for seasonal change to full on frigid temperatures. Check your wardrobe to make sure you have a:
1. Black mid-long cardigan. A longer cardigan (even if you’re petite) can make a statement look come to life.
2. Cozy cardigan - like a cable stitch or super soft yarn, that feels like a hug.
3. Patterned cardigan - that looks like a topper or a jacket
Make sure you have a variety of lengths in your closet. Honestly, I don’t think you can ever have too many cardigans!
THE COZY PULL-OVER
One of the key looks over the past few cold weather seasons is a super cozy sweater. Not only is a cozy pull over sweater functional from a warmth perspective, it just looks cool these days. Handmade details like cable knit, novelty knit stitches or retro fair isle patterns offer an old is new, modern take on the cozy seater. Oh, yes! The sweater vest is back and it’s hotter than ever. The sweater vest is really trendy right now for a few reasons. It’s polished. It is layerable. It flatters everyone. I love how you can wear a sweater vest like a tank top in the warmer weather and then layer it up with shirts, tees or turtlenecks as the season progresses. Try it over your white tee and jeans - add a loafer and you’ve got a great denim friendly work look. Pair it with a white shirt and a faux leather / vegan leather legging with a pump and you’re good to go for that presentation or out for dinner with your girlfriends. Go full on trend and match a patterned vest back to the matching skirt.
It’s time now, take inventory and stock up on some new knit favourites. In my opinion, a sweater is always a good idea!
