Putting your best foot forward starts with the right pair of pants. Finding the silhouettes that flatter your unique body shape can be a game-changer for your style. It’s always a good idea to have a few different types in your wardrobe so you have styling options for every facet of your life, from casual to professional. This season, we're excited to introduce a range of pant silhouettes that are not only on-trend but also designed to enhance your individual beauty. In this post, we’ll give you a brief intro to different pant profiles and how to style them.

LEGGINGS
Leggings usually offer a very slim silhouette, hugging the leg from the waist to ankle -- though flared varieties are also becoming popular (but more on flared pants later!). Generally, they’re meant to touch your skin and make you look slimmer by highlighting and contouring your leg.
When it comes to styling, leggings are as versatile as they come, offering style and comfort whether you’re lounging on the couch, working at the office, or out for brunch. For everyday ensembles, they can look great with anything from a t-shirt to an oversized sweater. At the office, try pairing them with stylish blouses, poplin shirts, or even a blazer.
JEGGINGS
The name says it all. These pants are an unbeatable combination of leggings’ snug comfort and jeans’ classic style. Jeggings often mimic the look of traditional jeans, with faux pockets, stitching and rivet details. This makes them a go-to choice when you want the comfort of loungewear and the look of denim.
Usually crafted by blending stretchy materials like spandex or elastane, jeggings offer a form-fitting silhouette that contours to your body. This style is an easy choice for office or casual outfits, going well with anything from cardigans and tunics to t-shirts and blouses.
SLIM LEG
Slim leg pants are usually fitted through the hip, thigh, knee, and calf, allowing you to flaunt your legs' natural contours without clinging too tightly around the ankle. You could think of them as the middle ground between tighter, form-fitting styles (like skinny jeans) and relaxed, roomier options (like loose jeans). This silhouette, characterized by its elongating effect on the legs, is a versatile choice that can flatter a wide array of body shapes.
Slim leg pants can effortlessly transition from day to night, offering a seamless shift from casual daytime activities to elegant evening affairs. Whether you're pairing them with sneakers for a casual brunch with friends or dressing them up with heels for a night out, slim leg pants are a great choice for those seeking both style and comfort in one piece.
STRAIGHT LEG
A straight silhouette in pants or jeans usually refers to a consistent width from the knee down to the hem. It strikes a balance between slim and wide, offering a flattering fit that complements virtually any body type.
For those looking to accentuate their waist and overall shape, straight-leg pants provide an ideal canvas. Tucking in your top or cinching the waist with a stylish belt (yes, belts are back and better than ever) can help showcase your waistline while providing a polished and tailored look. This recommendation not only adds a touch of flair to your ensemble but also highlights the versatility of straight-leg pants, making them an essential addition to any fashion-savvy wardrobe.
FLARE LEG
This style usually refers to pants that are fitted through the hip and thigh and widen from the knee down. At Cleo, we offer flare pants that don’t go too wide. We think of it as a modern flare that adds a graceful, curved silhouette to accentuate your figure and lengthen your leg. You can wear tops tucked or untucked with a flare leg, just make sure they stay at or above your hip.
We love seeing a tucked top with this silhouette to show off your beautiful curves. The flare leg myth is that they have to go to the floor. Wrong! You can wear your flare leg near the floor or just below your ankle, or at the top of your shoe, as a cute kick flare. Each option offers a distinct look, opening up possibilities for fun shoe pairings. It all depends on your preference.
BOOTCUT
Bootcut are a timeless fit that can look both classic and contemporary, depending on the material and outfit. These pants are fitted through the waist, hips and thigh, then slightly flare from below the knee to hem. The flare in this style is usually subtle, allowing just enough room to accommodate various types of footwear, such as boots (as you may have guessed from the name).
Bootcut jeans and pants are a classic style celebrated for their versatility, fitting in at the office and beyond. They also have a flattering silhouette that can balance proportions and elongate the legs, making them a great choice for those looking to create an hourglass figure. Whether you're dressing them up with a pair of heeled boots or keeping it casual with sneakers, bootcut jeans offer a refined but easygoing look.

WIDE LEG
After over a decade of skinny jean dominance, wide legs and wider lady-like trouser cuts are back and on trend. They have a rich history (think Coco Chanel) that give them a timeless and sophisticated vibe. This cut is usually relaxed through the hip and thigh and falls straight to the ankle. As a silhouette, they are one of the most chic and powerful pant styles – not to mention so comfortable!
We recommend pairing more fitted tops or jackets to help define the waist, balance proportions, and highlight your figure. Any body shape or height can wear wide-leg pants (yes, this includes petite) and you’ll be shocked at how it can complement your figure. Try different styles including those with a more tailored look like pleats, or more flowy fits like palazzos or gauchos.
JOGGER
A newer style, the jogger cut is usually relaxed through the hips, seat, and thigh and slim at the ankle. Joggers afford you the look of slim-leg pants but with loungewear comfort -- thanks in part to elasticized waist bands. If the jogger has an elasticized cuff, bonus, no hemming is needed! Workwear has never been so comfortable and casual, yet polished.
This silhouette is also very versatile, with styles that look great at the office, home, or out running errands. A t-shirt, cardigan or button up can go well with joggers, and they also pair well with anything from chunky shoes to sneakers.
